1. Swimming
I’m currently participating in swimming, which has taught me self discipline and dedication to practicing skills as well as taking and listening to instructions. This will help me in 8th grade because it shows that I have the skill set to follow instructions and that I have dedication. I also plan to participate on a San Marcos swim team this summer which will teach me teamwork, collaboration skills and increase my social skills in groups.
2. Photography
One of my hobbies is photography which allows me to express myself through art and learn about arrangement and colors. This activity taught me about patience, because sometimes my camera won't work or the lens takes too long to snap the shot you wanted. I also taught me the skill of creativity when I'm taking photos and these skills can help me not only in 8th grade but at high tech schools altogether because a lot of our projects require creative thinking as well as thinking outside the box.
Here's a picture of a photo I took of this year using a scratched lens and putting my camera on a blur setting.

4. Reading
I also enjoy reading, which entrance my vocabulary and strengthens my patience and creativity. Strengthening my vocab is a great skill because in high school when we take our SAT, a wide vocabulary will be helpful when I make my answers. And, before that, in 8th grade, it will help me in my writing and research papers.
