How I collaborate well with my peers: then and now
In the beginning of 6th and 7th grade, I saw that I didn't really collaborate with my peers as much as I should. I remember In 6th grade and during the Find your beat project, I really had to collaborate with my group for the math/ science portion and I finally saw that collaborating was just another way to give critique and combined ideas. Collaborating effectively with team mates will help me in 8th grade because in 8th grade there will only be more projects where I'm required to collaborate with my peers and it will only work to my disadvantage if I don't perfect it and make it a strong skill. I could improve my collaboration skills by:
In this photo, me and my peer are going over our TPOL revisions we made for each other, we both collaborated on what we wanted our POL's to look like and what we wanted to revise in each others resumes.
- including myself more in group critique
- staying form distractions (friends, etc.)
- stepping up and stating my opinions and ideas more

How I: Succeeded in roles as both a leader and a follower
This year, I was working on my collaborating skills, but I still had to work on stepping up more, as I said was a way to collaborate more with my peers. This year, when I took on the role as a slam master in the civil rights project, I really put myself and saw myself as a leader for the first time this year. This skill will help me in 8th grade because it's good to be a well rounded student and be able to be a leader and have the skill set to also take order and instruction form other people. I can improve on being a leader and a follower by:
- Thinking of everyones perspective when we make group decisions
- Making sure that I step up as well as step down when working with my peers
- Always including the entire groups ideas
How I: became more social with my peers
Last year and the beginning of this year, we had a lot of group projects like the find your beat project & seismic project. Throughout these projects, I was participation with my peers, but I felt like I wasn't being as social as I would have liked to be. This year, and not in any particular project, I wanted to become more social and open when I worked with my peers. Being more social with my peers in school is an essential tool, since we have so many aspects that require public speaking and public presentations (exhibition, POL's, etc.) I knew it was something that I had to master in order to even get to the 7th grade. With that said, this skill is very important to have in 8th grade and even beyond that because it doesn't stop at school, but at extra curricular activities, home, and any social situation. I plan on improving this skill by:
- being more of a open book with my peers
- speak up more in Socratic seminars and in-class activities
- be more involved in group activities
